Russia cbank to suggest ways of fighting defamatory Internet info
MAGNITOGORSK, Chelyabinsk Region, Feb 18 (PRIME) -- The Russian central bank will approve recommendations on defamatory banking information dissemination in social networks this year, Artyom Sychev, deputy director of the regulator’s security department, said Wednesday.
“One of the main risks, to which banks should pay attention, is the risk of maintaining business reputation and public image in social networks, the Internet,” Sychev said at a Urals forum devoted to information security of banks.
“Activities to defame some banks and the Russian banking system have surfaced strongly...Activities in social networks is a rather serious task not only for security services of credit organizations, but also for other services of banks.”
He told reporters that the document will deal not only with traditional methods, like data leakage prevention, but also with problems that appear due to dissemination of defamatory information in social networks.
“The core of the document is to unite experience of credit organizations on two main problems. These are problems of information leakage via connection channels and of social networks,” he said.
The central bank will recommend banks focus on two main threats -- data leakage by employees or counteragents that lacks malicious intention that results in economic losses for a bank and uncontrolled distribution of unverified negative information about a financial organization.
“It’s important that retaliatory steps are taken,” Sychev said.
